Ocean Outreach brings an experienced instructor with an extensive background in marine education to your classroom. Hands-on demonstrations, specimens, and student involvement are used to enhance the educational experience. Each program is catered to the grade level, interests, and background of the class.
Our Outreach Instructors are hand picked and go through an extensive training period before they begin teaching classes. They all possess a special blend of knowledge and enthusiasm, and have animated teaching styles along with solid marine science backgrounds. Outreach Instructors know how to scale each particular topic to the level and ability of the class. Our program will be an experience that your students will never forget!
Why choose a Cabrillo Aquarium Outreach class over another type of outreach visit? We've worked hard to bring you the best in marine education. Our classes are carefully planned to provide a fun learning experience for your classroom. Our program can travel to far off cities and cover a 60 mile radius around the Cabrillo Aquarium. To the north we've traveled to Santa Clarita, to the west we've been to Thousand Oaks, to the east it's Riverside, and to the south its Laguna Hills. We do mostly class to class presentations for students prek through the eighth grade and usually spend one hour with each class of up to 30 students. Our instructors have taught classes for bilingual students, senior citizens, special education students, students that are hearing impaired, visually impaired, and at risk. Outreach instructors are highly adaptable and can teach in just about any situation. We always arrive with plenty of hands on specimens, class interactive props, and can even bring out a portable touchtank with live intertidal animals. Teachers have remarked that our program is the best that they have ever seen, and our evalutations always come back with high marks. Visit one of our programs, you will not be disappointed!

Program Length: One Hour (may be shorter for PreK classes)
Grade Level: PreK (3 years and up) through 8th grade unless prior arrangement has been made
Limit: 30 students per classroom program. Maximum number of programs per day at the same site: 4.
Offered: Tuesday thru Friday
Fee: $135 for the initial program; $60 for each similar program at the same site on the same day. (Live animals in a touchtank available: add $50 per day; 3 class minimum for touchtank set up.)
