The Adventures of C. Weed the Snail and His Friends

Classroom program, Grade PreK (3 years and up).

Through the wonders of puppets, young students will learn about various ocean animals and their strange ways. This class will include a basic overview of who lives in the sea followed by an assortment of hands-on specimens. (Live animals in a touchtank available: add $50 per day; 3 class minimum for touchtank set up.)


At Home in the Sea

Classroom program, Grades K thru 1st.

Specially geared toward younger students, this class is a general overview of what lives in the sea. Extensive class interaction makes this class especially interesting for the little ones. Tidepool animals, whales, and sea turtles are just some of the subjects explored. (Live animals in a touchtank available: add $50 per day; 3 class minimum for touchtank set up.)


The Greatest Fish Story Ever Told

Classroom program, Grades 1st thru 6th.

Dive into what makes a fish fishy, while we discuss the many types that live in our oceans. Students will be able to touch and examine a common ocean fish while learning about fish types, senses, breathing processes, and locomotion. Depending on availability, baby grunion fish may also be hatched by students (inquire when reserving the class). Sorry, No touchtank is available for this class.


Treasures in the Tidepools

Classroom program, Grades 2nd thru 8th.

Our most popular class, this is a complete lesson on tidepool animals and their adaptations used to survive the pounding waves. (Live animals in a touchtank available: add $50 per day; 3 class minimum for touchtank set up.)


Thar She Blows-a Whale of a Lesson

Classroom program, Grades 2nd thru 8th.

Examine the differences between baleen and toothed whales. Hear whale sounds, view a slide show, participate in a whale breathing experiment, and watch as a student is transformed into a whale during this lesson. Sorry, no touchtank is available for this class.


What's Plankton Anyway?

Classroom program, Grades 3rd thru 8th.

Created for advanced students, in this class we will watch as a student is transformed into a SCUBA diving plankton collector. View live plankton under a microscope and get a chance to taste plankton while learning about these odd creatures which are so important to our own survival. (Live animals in a touchtank available: add $50 per day; 3 class minimum for touchtank set up.)


Ten Arms and an Attitude: Squid Dissection

Classroom program, Grades 3rd thru 8th.

Get face to face with some denizens of the deep! Octopus, squid, and their relatives are some of the unusual creatures explored in this class. Find out what makes a squid special as students wrestle with tentacles, examine different types of squids and follow up with a dissection. Materials fee: add $15 per class. No Guts, No Glory: Fish Dissection

Classroom program, Grades 3rd thru 8th.

During this lesson, even the timid are transformed into doctors! Learn about the many different types of fish, following up with an actual dissection of a common ocean fish. Also covered are the external/internal anatomy and function. Materials fee: add $15 per class. Sorry, no touchtank is available for this class.


Shark! It's O.K. to go in the Water

Classroom program, Grades 3rd thru 8th.

Step into the jaws of a Great White and survive! Learn the facts while we dispel the myths about this misunderstood animal as students participate in a shark tagging demonstration, study what makes sharks such efficient predators, view a slide show and follow up with lots of hands-on specimens, including a jaw from a Great White. Students will also have a chance to take home a fossil shark tooth as they are transformed into classroom paleontologists. Materials fee: add $15 per class. Fish Printing: Gyotaku in the Classroom

Classroom program, Grades 3rd thru 8th.

This class lets the students experiment with the ancient art of Gyotaku (fish rubbing). Each student will learn the background of Gyotaku and will get to take home their own printed creation. Materials fee: add $15 per class. Sorry, no touchtank is available for this class.
